Skin Checks
This is Australia’s national cancer.
Join us at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong on Thursday 19th December where MSCAN will be partnering with the Melbourne Renegades to provide free skin checks to Renegades fans.
What to expect
MSCAN is partnering with experts from the Victorian Melanoma Service to bring skin checks to GMHBA Stadium.
Make your way to our skin check rooms, at the back of A30, closest to Gate 13. The skin check rooms ensure privacy while the skin check is underway.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment time.
A skin check will take less than 15 minutes. You will be invited to strip down to your underwear. A disposable hospital gown will be provided if you would like to use it.
A doctor may ask you questions about your skin cancer history and check over your skin for any spots that may require further follow up.
For more information about what to expect during your skin check, read more here.
Know your skin. Early detection saves lives.
Melanoma and skin cancer affects too many Australian families.
- About 95% of skin cancers are treatable if found early.
- Most melanomas are found by the person with the melanoma or their partner.
- Get to know your skin, conduct regular skin self-examinations and present to a doctor with concerns.

Melanoma & Skin Cancer Advocacy Network (MSCAN)
MSCAN is an independent, consumer-led, national charity established in 2020 to spearhead the battle against Australia’s national cancer – skin cancer.
MSCAN takes an innovative approach in listening to, representing and informing the skin cancer community on skin cancer prevention, early detection through to coping with a serious diagnosis. We champion equitable access to healthcare, and work hard to encourage more funding for research, clinical trials and a committed advocacy approach. We’re passionate about working with government and the medical, research, consumer, and business communities.
Importantly, MSCAN is a Health Promotion Charity that is focused on both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. We’re focused on delivering policy reform that will shape the way skin cancer is considered and managed in Australia. The disease is all too familiar to many Australians and the personal, community and economic burden is tremendous. MSCAN has a bold pipeline of projects that aim to reduce the burden of Australia’s national cancer.

Have you checked your own skin lately?
The vast majority of skin cancers are visible on the skin so there’s a good chance of detecting the disease in its early stages if you know what to look for. Find out how to below
