Free skin checks – Australian Cotton Conference, Gold Coast, QLD

16-17 August 2022

FULLY BOOKED

Skin cancer, including melanoma, affects too many Australian families, particularly those in rural and regional Australia

This is Australia’s national cancer.

We know that people working in the outdoors and working on the land are exposed to damaging UV rays up to 10 times more than indoor workers. And in worrying news, farmers in Australia have a 60% higher death rate from melanoma compared to the general population. This needs to change.

The Melanoma & Skin Cancer Advocacy Network (MSCAN) wants Australians to get skin serious.

COVID-19 has meant that many Australians skipped their routine skin checks in 2020 and 2021. We need to find the skin cancers that haven’t yet been detected!

Corteva Agriscience

MSCAN and Corteva Agriscience are thrilled to provide free skin checks by a dermatologist at the Australian Cotton Conference, Gold Coast. Come to the Corteva Stand, and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Wellness Day

The skin check day is also an initiative of Wellness Day. Wellness Day was born in 2020 because we became aware of the body of emerging evidence showing that people were avoiding their healthcare appointments and screenings which was resulting in many cancers and other conditions going undiagnosed or delaying the diagnosis.

About MSCAN

The Melanoma & Skin Cancer Advocacy Network (MSCAN) is an innovative, consumer-led, national charity established to advance the battle against melanoma and skin cancer and reduce the impact of the disease on all Australians. It’s time to get skin serious!
